Smart BMS or BMU: The BMS is one of the essential electronic components in lithium batteries, offering constant control of battery charging and discharging, ensuring completely safe operation. The WeCo lithium battery BMS system is one of the most advanced in the energy storage sector.
The modular WeCo lithium battery is one of the most advanced in the market for storage in photovoltaic solar energy systems. The WeCo battery is expandable, allowing connection from 1 module of 5.3kWh to 5 modules in parallel or even adding 5 clusters of 5 modules each using the WeCo HUB to reach up to 132.5kWh.
- If this is the first WeCo battery you connect, you will need for proper operation the WeCo brand compatible power cable kit and the communication cable from the same, in addition to support if needed.
- In case you already have a WeCo battery and it is the second battery to install for 48V use, in this case, you will need parallel terminals and support if needed.
- If you already have a WeCo battery and it is the second battery to install for high voltage, in this case, you will not need any extra accessories except support if needed.

Among the main advantages of WeCo lithium batteries are:
- Universal compatibility: The WeCo battery works with inverters from the leading brands in the market such as Goodwe for self-consumption or Voltronic Axpert for isolated homes. It can also work with any other brand without communication, simply by adding the values recommended by the manufacturer.
- 100% Depth of Discharge: One of the few batteries on the market that allows complete discharges with 7800 cycles at 100%.
- Charge/Discharge Intensity: Thanks to its active equalizer and cell technology, it allows a higher charge and discharge intensity compared to most competing batteries. The 1C charge and discharge allows fully charging the battery in 1 hour and discharging more than 5000Wh.
- Operation under extreme temperatures: WeCo 5K3 battery modules can operate between -25ºC and 65ºC.
- Active Equalizer: Another major advantage of this battery over the competition is its active equalizer that ensures constant cell balancing and prevents performance loss.
WeCo's active equalizer exchanges energy between cells with higher and lower voltages. This system allows high efficiency in charging and discharging. One interesting advantage of this equalizer is its ability to match high currents, which can compensate for more than 10A between cells, enabling immediate balance.
The active equalizer plays a fundamental role in extending the life of the WeCo battery and achieving a fully efficient system.
The modular system of the WeCo battery allows us to expand our system according to our needs. In low voltage systems, we can add WeCo 5.3kWh battery modules and expand to connect in parallel a cluster of 5 batteries with 26.5kWh. The compact and useful design of the battery allows it to be wall-mounted when using a single module or securely stacked when using more than one module. The WeCo battery does not require a cabinet, and the necessary communication cables are included.
If we want to connect more than 5 modules in our low voltage system, we will need a WeCo expansion Hub. Thanks to the Hub, we can create up to 5 battery clusters and achieve a capacity of 130kWh.
If what we need is a high voltage system with WeCo, we will need a minimum of 15.6kWh to start, which means 3 battery modules. By connecting multiple clusters, we can achieve a capacity of up to 561.4kWh.
The WeCo battery allows Wi-Fi connection compatible with 5G, which allows quick and easy setup and commissioning. WeCo batteries come with their own WeCo Batteries mobile app to monitor the status of our storage system at all times. To control our WeCo battery via mobile, we need to add a WeCo Wi-Fi accessory.
