How it works
A typical system with Tesla Powerwall includes solar panels, an inverter to convert current to alternating current, a device to measure battery charge, and as a backup, a secondary circuit for electricity supply. These components depend on the characteristics of your installation.

- Solar panels
The panels convert sunlight into electricity that charges the Powerwall and supplies power to your home during the day. Without photovoltaic production, Powerwall can reduce your bill by sporadically analyzing your consumption.

- Powerwall 2
The battery is charged with the energy produced by the panels or by the power grid.

-Investor
It converts the electricity produced by the panels (direct current) into alternating current for your home.
All Powerwall installations require a compatible inverter. To maximize solar energy, a device is also installed, to measure your home's solar production and consumption

- Electrical panel
The inverter's electricity is sent to your electrical panel. When there is no solar production, during the night, the electricity generated by the power company is sent from the panel to the inverter, which also charges the Powerwall.

- Safety & Switch
Some security installations require a second electrical panel with critical equipment, which cannot be left without electricity. A relay (electrical switch) is automatically activated during a company power outage.
When installed with solar energy, the security installation, is powered by the panels.
Capacity
Each Powerwall 2 has 14kWh of energy storage capacity, enough for most homes. Multiple batteries can be installed together, to increase capacity.
